We're Done!!!

Congratulations to all our competitors. The night was a great success. We had prizes all over the place. Unfortunately, too many of us had to go back to work afterwards.

The ballpark sum of all our efforts will come in somewhere around $13,000. Great work everyone. Thanks to all our donors. We had well over 300 people provide generously to help Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Alberta. Thanks so much to all those people.

People's Choice Award

I forgot to add the people's choice award to the list of prizes below.

Courtesy of youbobble.com, one of our winners will be receiving a customized bobblehead of their mustached face.

Note that those who donate $50 or more are also entered into a draw for their own bobblehead of themself. $50 gets the name in once, and another name in for every $25 after that, to a max of 5 names in the draw.

Prize Teasers

Something to get you all excited about the party next week. Here are some teasers of the prizes that will be up for grabs, with a couple of tentatives as well.

When you are looking at these, please keep in mind that due to the budget required for drink tickets for party attenders, we were unable to negotiate any additional funds for prizes. It's a recession, yo.

Status Update - Week 2

Congratulations to all our participants.

Even without everyone updating me on progress, we've managed to raise a total of $8,785 for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Alberta by the end of week 2!!!

Prize winner for the most creative way of raising money in week 2 was Paul Blackbourn who was willing to "put various humiliating posters ... on the noticeboard in my condo building". Nothing like displaying the stache to total strangers.

I'd post it but I don't know how, so you'll just have to believe me when I say that Paul is definitely going to be the most popular guy in the building.

We also had a guy email the Canadian CEO as well as the Tax Leadership Group over Canada. I'm anxious to hear if they donate.

Week 3 will be the most raised during the week.

To the Donors

Thanks so much for your support and interest in our fundraiser. It's difficult work, growing a mustache. The akward double-takes on the train. Some guys experience a noticeable decrease in female attention, whether they are married or single. Tough stuff.

The beneficiary of our efforts is Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Alberta. This is the chapter that covers Calgary. They are a great organization and have provided numerous wish-grants throughout the years to children with life-threatening medical conditions. Check them out at makeawish.ca where they have also put up a blurb about our fundraising event. I know, legit, eh.

To help you guys out and try to motivate you to donate, we've established some incentives. First off, and as with any donation to a registered charity, the tax slip (we are accountants, most of us anyway). Donations of $25 or over are eligible for a tax slip if you request it and provide the necessary information. Your grower can ensure you provide the necessary information.

There is also a draw for a personalized bobblehead of yourself. Donors that give $50 have their name entered for a draw for their own bobblehead courtesy of the youbobble.com website. They are awesome and have been a great help to us with this. Every additional $25 over the $50 enters your name again, up to a limit of 5 times (a $150 donation). Awesome. Check out the website and browse the awesome bodies.

Last years winner received a bobblehead of himself from youbobble.com and it turned out fantastic. They do great work.

There is also the wrap-up party that you are invited to if you donate. I'd be hoping that the grower is throwing out the name of our special guest judge. You may have heard of one Lanny McDonald. That's right. We are having a party at Flames Central on February 1 at 5:30. Lanny will be there and so will you. This is going to be the competition part of it. We've got prizes and we need your help to vote on a couple of them. People's choice, baby-maker. It's gonna be a blast. And the mustaches will be there if full bloom for the strutting.

So donate so that you can be a part of this fundraising event which will hopefully be able to fund the wishes of a couple of local children who have had a rough go so far in life. Thanks.
